"Vayu", "Pitta" and "Kapha". Combination of Earth
and water give Kapha Dosha, Earth and ire give Pitta Dosha and Vayu and Akasa
result in Vayu Dosha. Abnormality in any of these three Doshas gives rise to
various diseases. Balance o Tridoshas keep the Body as well as Mind healthy.
Ayurveda has distinguished Diseases in two categories Manasik (Mental) and
Sharirika (Body). Ayurveda states that every The disease consists of imbalance
one of the three Doshas or combination of Two or Three Doshas.
History of Ayurveda
All the historical references can be found in Atharva-Veda one of
the four Vedas known as Sama, Rig, Yajur and Atharva. We would not only
get the description of Drugs but also the cases of Disease in a vivid manner.
As per the Historical references, it is being said that Lord Brahma who is
the creator of the Universe supposed to have explained Ayurveda to Prajapati
Daksha in the form o Slokas. from Daksha, it had been transferred to
two Ashwinikumaras who learned this art and science of living. From them, it
was conveyed to Lord Indra who graduated in this medical system. References
mentioned that when Earth was grappling with various diseases; Sages gathered
at the Himalayas and promoted Bharadwaja to learn Ayurveda from Lord Indra. On
his return, Bharadwaja taught to Atreya who had 6 followers namely Agnivesha,
Bhela, Parasara, Jatukarna, Ksharpani and Harita. Each of these followers wrote
a separate text on Ayurveda but some of the text got disappeared in subsequent
years. Fortunately, two texts got preserved called “Agnivesha Samhita” and
“Bhela Samhita”.Presently these texts are being widely used.
